Lake Surgery

What We Do

Dedicated teamwork providing thorough, personalised, family health care.

We are committed to helping you to maintain your health and wellbeing, as well as assisting you to deal with illness. We will send you reminders for such things as smears and immunisations. We will offer you computer assisted health risk assessments. Lake Surgery is proud to have consistently achieved outstanding Quality Assurance targets for many years.

GP Consultations

Our consultations are 15 minutes duration. If your consultation runs over the 15 minutes there may be a small extra charge, although we often encourage a further booking in consideration of patients waiting for the next appointment. This also allows more comprehensive follow up medical care.

Should referral to specialist or hospital be required, we will assist you in managing this process.

If you require a referral or forms to be completed and these are not done during the consultation time, there may be an extra charge.

Special Appointments for New Patients

If you are a new patient to the practice we encourage a preliminary assessment by our nurses. This can be scheduled immediately prior to you seeing the GP . Please advise our receptionists should you wish to utilise this special service.

Booking Appointments

At the time of booking your appointment, please let the receptionist know how many in the family need to be seen.

If you think you do require a double appointment, please tell the receptionist, so it can be accommodated. You will be charged double if a double appointment is booked. Some of the doctors do not offer double appointments.

Cancellations

Please advise us as early as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment, so we can offer it to someone else. Missed appointments may be charged for in certain circumstances.

Special Procedures

In addition to the standard range of family medical services, we offer minor surgery, fracture plastering, insertion of contraceptive devices, skin biopsy, steroid joint injections, audiometry, ecg, spirometry (breathing test),ear syringing, cervical smears, sexual health checks, yearly osteoporosis venous injection, and a number of other procedures. Please ask at reception for a list of fees for these.

All the doctors in Taupo take part in an after hours duty roster. Simply phone the surgery on (07)3786294 and you will be transferred to the town duty doctor or an experienced nurse led answering service who will assist you on where to obtain medical assistance.

Specific Medical Examinations

Travel Consults

We offer advice and will organize medication and immunisation for your overseas travel.

Teaching

We believe the future of quality general practice lies in quality teaching. Our practice hosts medical students who may sit in on consultations subject to your permission.
